ICBC Tip of the Month (July 2014): ICBC and My Family Doctor

TIP: See Your Family Doctor, Regularly

This means YOUR doctor, not a walk in clinic or just the ICBC appointed doctors. You should be visiting YOUR family doctor at least once per month. If you don’t have a family doctor, find one.  If you must attend a walk in clinic, try to make sure you see the same physician at the clinic every time.  Consistency is key to your claim.

Why?

At some point, you will need an opinion from a doctor to be used in your claim.  If you attended a variety of different doctors or walk in clinics, no single doctor will feel comfortable providing an opinion.

Also, insurance companies rely heavily on clinical records. If the records lack notes or visits, ICBC will take the position that "you are not injured ...  because if you were injured, you would see a doctor about your complaints".
